Welcome to Kayla & Jerry’s Story.
Set against the backdrop of the Erickson Center for the Arts, their wedding overlooked the glittering waters of South Manistique Lake. Though I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula, the abundance of serenely beautiful locations never fails to take my breath away.
I had the pleasure of capturing the heart of their wedding day, from intimate first looks before the ceremony to the final family dances that kickstarted the energy on the dance floor. This wedding holds a special place in my heart because I first photographed Kayla’s senior portraits years ago. It means so much when clients return to me for life’s next chapters, trusting me to capture their most meaningful moments.
The First Look
Following an emotional first look with his soon-to-be wife, Jerry gently wiped the tears from Kayla’s cheek after reading his vows in a peaceful, private moment before heading out for the wedding party portraits ahead of their ceremony.
The Ceremony
Their outdoor ceremony was sheltered by the forest, with sunlight spilling across the treetops. The bridal party’s elegant steel blue attire paired perfectly with the natural landscape, and everyone’s genuine happiness for Kayla and Jerry made every moment feel joyful.
Let’s Dance!
Kayla and her father shared an energetic first dance to “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses—an unexpected but well-loved twist on the classic father-daughter dance.
Dusk Portraits
My coverage ended after more golden hour portraits, as the bride and groom joined their guests on the dance floor, ready to share in the bright energy of the ones they love most.
Every wedding has its own story, and Kayla & Jerry’s reminds us that love deserves to be captured thoughtfully. If you’re planning your own Michigan wedding and want editorial and documentary photography, I’d love to hear from you. Send me a message here to start the conversation.
