07. Props
Okay so when I say props, I don’t mean chalkboards and cheesy hobby lobby props. I mean actual things that you use and love and care about. So what are your interests? A few ideas: a dirtbike/bike, your dog (literally any animal, i’ve shot with horses and pigs and cows lol), your truck/car, a campfire, flowers, a kayak/paddleboard, your fave books, etc. Think about things that are important and a big part of your life. If you’ve got something that you wanna incorporate, please lemme know and we can make sure to include it in a non-cheesy way!
08. Hair + Makeup
I get a lot of questions from people about whether or not they should get their hair and makeup professionally done before the shoot. All I have to say about it is that you should do whatever makes you feel most like YOU. Whether you go bare-faced with light mascara 24/7 or absolutely love being super glammed up, if it makes you feel confident then I’m all for it. Remember that you wanna look like yourself in your images. You don’t wanna get your gallery back and not recognize the face in the pictures.
If you do book hair and makeup, make sure that your appointment time ends at least an hour before you need to leave for the session. This helps make sure you’re on time and don’t miss out on any shooting time! It also gives some time between for you to relax, grab some food, and get ready for a super fun shoot. Let’s be honest, if you’re rushing around before the shoot and worried you’re gonna be late, it’s gonna show in your pictures. Take your time and plan out your day so that you can relax a bit before we meet up!
